Information on the Marinas in Charleston, SC
As you can see from our map, while several of these marinas are located on the Charleston Harbor, some are located farther out of town. Some of the marinas located upriver from downtown Charleston offer better pricing than those on the peninsula, while those that are slightly farther away—like Bohicket Marina and The Marina at Edisto Beach—offer easy access with far less traffic than you’ll experience on a busy day in the Charleston Harbor.
Bohicket Marina & Market

Bohicket Marina & Market is located on Bohicket Creek, on the inland side of Seabrook Island south of Charleston. It has a large fuel dock and a large number of slips, as well as a dry storage facility, ice cream shop, ship store, and restaurants.
Bohicket Creek opens up into the North Edisto River, and offers easy access to the Atlantic Ocean. The mouth of the creek is also just about five miles from the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). If you’re interested in boating in Charleston, SC but don’t want to deal with the traffic in the harbor, then heading slightly south to Bohicket could be a good option.
Charleston City Marina (Safe Harbor Charleston City)

Charleston City Marina (Safe Harbor Charleston City) is one of several marinas in Charleston, SC located directly in (or right next to) the harbor. Charleston City Marina serves as a docking location for many large yachts visiting the Holy City, and is also home to the Charleston Sailing School and a boat club. If you’re interested in buying a boat, The Multihull Company has an office here as well.
According to the marina’s website: “Previously named ‘Marina of the Year’ by Marina Dockage magazine, Safe Harbor Charleston City is home to the famed MEGADOCK which hosts some of the most prestigious yachts in the world. Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina is located at Patriot’s Point in the Charleston Harbor. Offering picturesque views of the Charleston skyline and Ravenel Bridge, it is one of the most desirable docking locations in all of Charleston.
This marina in Charleston, SC offers a large fuel dock and several amenities, including nice laundry facilities and showers. Charleston’s Water Taxi makes a stop here as well—making it easy for transients to get across the harbor to downtown Charleston.
Charleston Maritime Center

The Charleston Maritime Center is located on the east side of the Charleston peninsula and can accommodate boats up to 120 feet in length. Operated by the City of Charleston, its slip rates are more affordable than those at some of the other marinas in Charleston, SC.
Additionally, since the Charleston Maritime Center is located on the peninsula, sailors and boaters from out of town can walk from their boats to all that downtown Charleston has to offer. This marina is popular for several reasons; but, if you can get in, it is well worth it.
Cooper River Marina

The Cooper River Marina is located just slightly inland of the Charleston Maritime Center. It offers all of the amenities you would expect, including wireless internet. Recent reviews give the Cooper River Marina high ratings for its security and the friendliness and helpfulness of its professional staff.
Daniel Island Marina

The Daniel Island Marina is located on Clouter Creek, just inland of the I-526 bridge. If you are heading inland from the Charleston Harbor on the Cooper River, you will come to the entrance to Clouter Creek just under four miles from the Ravenel Bridge. This marina in Charleston, SC has overall positive reviews as well, with many reviewers also commenting on the helpfulness of the marina’s staff.
Dolphin Cove Marina

Dolphin Cove Marina is located on the Ashley River, inland from the Charleston Harbor. Getting here involves passing under the James Island Connector Bridge as well as the draw bridges connecting West Ashley and downtown Charleston.
According to the marina’s website: “Dolphin Cove is the last locally, family-owned Marina in Charleston, our FULLY enclosed Drystack is the ONLY one in the Lowcountry. We also have 85 wetslips and can hold vessels up to 65' long with a depth of 32', a Travel Lift for haul-out services, a full repair/service department that can meet any of your needs, [and] an Ethanol-Free gas dock.”
RiversEdge Marina

RiversEdge Marina is located just slightly further upriver from Dolphin Cove. It also offers haul-out and other services, and can house vessels up to 35 feet in length. Additional amenities at RiversEdge Marina include a store, fuel dock, WIFI, and restrooms with showers.
Isle of Palms Marina

Isle of Palms Marina is located on the northern end of the island on the ICW. This popular marina offers a full-service ship store, restaurant, and easy access to both the Charleston Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. There are several additional restaurants within walking distance as well, and the beach is just a few blocks away on the other side of the island.
Among the marinas in Charleston, SC, Isle of Palms Marina is somewhat unique in that it has its own custom “IOP App.” As the marina’s website explains, the app can be used to schedule dry storage launches, as well as “Marina Concierge” add-on services including “reservation of water toys, fuel, ice, food, beverages, pump out, bottom cleaning, maintenance and more.”
Ripley Light Marina

Its wet slips can accommodate vessels up to 60 feet, and include shore power and freshwater hookups, as well as pump-out service and complimentary WIFI. Being located on the peninsula, Safe Harbor Bristol is another marina in Charleston, SC that offers easy access to all that the city has to offer.
Safe Harbor City Boatyard

Located on the Charleston peninsula just before you get to the Ravenel Bridge, Seabreeze Marina offers a premier location with free parking and an easy walk to historic King Street. It also has a full-service ship’s store and cabana restaurant on-site, and offers transient rates starting at $3.00 per foot.
St. Johns Yacht Harbor

St. Johns Yacht Harbor is located on the Stono River between James Island and Johns Island. Being further away from downtown, this marina in Charleston, SC offers a variety of luxury amenities, including a pool and picnic areas with grills.
Being located on the Stono River, St. Johns Yacht Harbor offers both easy access to the ICW and the Atlantic Ocean. In fact, it is just 12 miles from the ocean, with the Stono River winding its way to Bird Key Stono Heritage Preserve between Folly Island and Kiawah Island.
Sunset Cay Marina

The Marina at Edisto Beach is located less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean and is also easily accessible from the ICW. It offers basic amenities and a ship’s store, and there are a few restaurants within just a minute’s walk. The beach is within walking distance as well, and the nearby ACE Basin offers some of the most beautiful and pristine views in the lowcountry.
Tolers Cove Marina
